John Palfrey

John Palfrey (born 1972) is Executive Director of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society, vice dean for library and information resources, and a tenured professor at Harvard Law School. [ [http://www.law.harvard.edu/news/2008/04/30_palfrey.php Palfrey appointed as new head of Harvard Law School Library] ] He is a principal investigator on the Open Net Initiative, a collaboration between Harvard and the University of Toronto and the University of Cambridge that studies the Internet filtering of countries such as China, Iran, and Singapore, among many others. He is co-author of two books, "Access Denied" (MIT Press, 2008) and "Born Digital" (Basic Books, forthcoming, 2008).

Palfrey served as a Visiting Professor of Law and Information at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, in 2007 - 2008.

He is a graduate of Harvard College, the University of Cambridge, and Harvard Law School. His parents, also professors, are the co-masters of Adams House at Harvard College.

In February, 2008, he started the DRAFT LESSIG movement to encourage law professor Lawrence Lessig to run for the United States Congress.
