Hebereke series

Hebereke series

The "Hebereke series" (へべれけ) is a video game franchise developed by Japanese company Sunsoft which first began the series on 20 September 1991 with the game titled "Hebereke" for the Nintendo Famicom, and in 1992 released on the Nintendo Entertainment System only in the UK and Australia under the moniker "Ufouria: The Saga" altering many of the characters in the process. 'Hebereke' is one of the characters and the Japanese name is colloquial and roughly translates to 'drunk' or 'untrustworthy'.

Spin-offs

When sequels/spinoffs were released each almost every title was a different genre, much like the Nekketsu Koha Kunio-kun series, Dizzy series and Mario series and can be more considered spin-off games.

Developer Sunsoft used the characters and world feature in "Hebereke" in a series of other games for Super Famicom (Super NES), Sega Saturn, PlayStation, coin operated arcades and more recently mobile phones [http://www.success-corp.co.jp/keitai/vodafone/hebereke/index.shtml] [http://www.sun-denshi.co.jp/soft/shg_i/i_index.htm] . Almost all of Sunsofts games that feature the "Hebereke" characters were used in titles that were very different from each other.
