Bamble is a municipality in the county of
Telemark ,Norway .Bamble was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see
formannskapsdistrikt ). The lading place ofStathelle was separated from Bamble in 1851, but again merged with Bamble January 1, 1964. The lading place ofLangesund was also merged with Bamble the same date.The name
The Norse form of the name was "Bamblar". The meaning of the name is unknown.
Until 1918 the name was written "Bamle".
