Tokke is a municipality in the county of
Telemark ,Norway .Tokke was created as a new municipality January 1, 1964 - after the merger of the two old municipalities of
Lårdal and Mo.Tokke borders

The name originally belongs to the river running through the municipality. The Norse form of the rivername must have been "*Þotka", and it is related to the name of the lake
