Kharak Singh

Kharak Singh, (Punjabi ਖੜਕ ਸਿੰਘ, 1801-1840) was a Sikh ruler of the sovereign country of Punjab and the Sikh Empire. He was the eldest legitimate son of Ranjit Singh and Maharani Datar Kaur. He succeeded his father in June 1839. He was removed from power on 8 October 1839 and replaced by his son Prince Nau Nihal Singh. He became a prisoner and died from a slow poisoning on 5 November 1840.
