History
The original
call letters were WRAC, referring to its city of license. For many years, from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s, they were WRKR, a rock-basedTop 40 station targeting its city of license Racine,Kenosha and the southern part ofMilwaukee County . They were known at various times as "The Rocker" and "Hit Radio 100.7". WRKR gradually started targeting the whole Milwaukee market. Due to heavyTop 40 competition, WRKR added light R&B music around 1986, and for less than a year were called "Heartbeat 101" (WHBT-FM). The WRKR call sign was reassigned by the FCC to aKalamazoo, MI station about that time, where it remains today. In 1987, the station became
new age music -formatted WBZN {"Breezin' 100.7"). The station flipped toUrban contemporary in June 1991, becoming WKKV (V-100).After many years, the
Doug Banks Morning Show ended in December 2007, and the station replaced him withSteve Harvey . It is unknown if the station will pick up Banks' new afternoon program.WKKV HD2
