Sarah Caplin Born London, England Occupation Journalist, Producer, Executive Producer Spouse(s) Nick Ross Sarah Caplin is a British producer and television executive at ITV, married to TV presener Nick Ross for 25 years.[1] She was one of the founders of Childline, alongside her cousin Esther Rantzen[citation needed] and is a former employee of the BBC.[1] She has three sons - Adam, Jack and Sam and lives in Notting Hill, West London.[1]
Television Credits
Caplin joined the BBC as a graduate trainee in 1981 and worked as a researcher on a variety of current affairs and factual entertainment programmes.[citation needed] As a producer her credits include ChildWatch, Drugwatch, Crime The Shocking Truth and the pilot for Crimewatch. In 1989 she was appointed Editor of Watchdog, where she hired Anne Robinson as the presenter.[citation needed] In 1995 she was promoted to Deputy Secretary of the BBC and in 1997 was headhunted to join Granada TV as the Editor of This Morning.[citation needed]
Caplin left after three months because of what was reported as a difficult relationship with Judy Finnegan [2]. She became head of development for Granada Factual North and in 2000 was appointed Head of Features. Among the shows she created are 60 Minute Makeover, several series with Jade Goody and the Royal Navy, and House of Horrors[3].
Sarah was made redundant from ITV in March 2011. One newspaper reported there had been claims of a bullying management style although ITV maintained the reason for her departure was a restructuring of senior management[4][5].
