Baiyu (born Baiyu Chen in Xiamen, China) is a Chinese-American singer-songwriter and actress. In the early 90's, her family moved to Maryland [1] where she was then given the American name of “Sara”. Baiyu has appeared in several independent films, worked with Seventeen Magazine and was a VJ for the mtvU show "The Freshmen" from 2006-2008.[2] She later graduated from Princeton University in 2008 with a degree in Sociology.[3]

Music career

Baiyu released her first EP "B-Side" in 2010 which generated buzz and received airplay on Hot 97 and numerous college radio stations.[4][5] She has since then been featured in Celebuzz,[6] GlobalGrind,[7] TheSource,[8] MTVIggy,[9] SoulTrain.com,[10] and various other blogs and magazines.[11]

In 2011 Baiyu has decided to donate all profits from her latest EP, “Fan Fair” towards Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief.[4][12] Her music video for the song "Together" premiered on MTV Networks' Logo TV in August of 2011.[13] Subsequently, the video also got picked up by MTV UK[14], MTV Latin America[15], MTV España[16], MTV Brasil[17],and VH1 Latin America[18] among other television stations, solidifying Baiyu's status as an international pop culture icon.
