Özgür Uyanık

Özgür Uyanık is a film director.

First as an executive and then heading the development department at Scala Productions Limited (a company set up by Nik Powell after the collapse of Palace Productions), Özgür helped shepherd a twelve-strong slate of films and successfully saw in to production the likes of Last Orders (Michael Caine, Bob Hoskins & Helen Mirren), Black and White (Robert Carlyle, Charles Dance & Kerry Fox), Leo (Joseph Fiennes, Elizabeth Shue, Dennis Hopper & Sam Shepard) and Christmas Carol: The Movie (animated feature voiced by Nicolas Cage and Kate Winslet) for which he was subsequently responsible for selling the worldwide rights to MGM Home Entertainment, acting as the sales agent for The Film Consortium. During this time he also worked on the development of Stoned, directed by Stephen Woolley.

He has written and directed several award-winning short films including 'A Short Story About Friends' (1993), 'Nothing Much' (1994) and Oblivious (2001) starring Sienna Guillory which won Best European Short Film at the Brussels European Film Festival (official website) as well as being short-listed for a BAFTA and sold to Universal Sci-Fi Channel and Canal+ International for several territories.

The 2010 released Resurrecting: The Street Walker produced by London-based production outfit 2nd Floor Productions is Uyanık's feature film debut as writer-director. He also edited the film. Nominated Best UK Feature at Raindance Film Festival and official selection at International Istanbul Film Festival, FAB Edinburgh Horror Film Festival, The Festival of Fantastic Film, Dublin Horrorthon, Abertoir Horror Film Festival and Haapsalu Horror & Fantasy Film Festival. Distributed in the UK by Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment.
