An outcome budget aims to measure and control the expenses of concerned ministries to introduce discipline in the expenditure. Its working is to be inspected after every three months. Outcome Budget: 2005–06 is a 723-page document tabled in the Lok Sabha by Finance Minister of India P Chidambaram. It is a compilation of desired outcomes identified by 44 ministries and 61 departments to be achieved from the allocations made in the General Budget for the fiscal year 2005-06.
The ministries which are excluded are defence, external affairs, parliamentary affairs and atomic energy.
