The Ouachita geosyncline is a major fold ralong southern North America. It is mostly covered by sediment from the Mississippian and later, but it outcrops in the Austin, Texas region, spanning Oklahoma and Arkansas, where it forms the Ouachita mountains.[1] It was formed during the late Palaeozoic, during an orogeny that begun during the Ordovician; associated deposition occurred well into the Pennsylvanian.[2]
