Otulu

Otulu is one of the ten villages of Ahiara, Imo State, Nigeria. It has eight hamlets, namely:

  • Ihite*
  • Umuaghara
  • Umuagwu
  • Umuakam
  • Umuga
  • Umuoke
  • Umuokoro
  • Umuoyaa

Ogwugwu is the name of the village Deity but no longer worshipped by majority of the people since the introduction of christianity. The people have a large market called Nkwo Otulu while holds daily.Otulu people are mainly Catholics with Parish called St. Joseph Catholic Parish Otulu. St Joseph The worker is the Patron Saint of Otulu Community. They have one secondary School - Community Secondary Scholl Otulu built by the community in the early eighties. Before the secondary school, there existed two primary schools in Otulu - St Joseph Primary school Otulu being the foremost and followed Group School Otulu. Otulu has many university graduates - Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, Accountants, Teachers, Reverend Fathers, Reverend Sisters, Civil Servants, Business men, and petty traders.The people are very industrious and can be found in many towns and cities across the globe.
