ORIX USA’s key business areas are corporate finance, real estate finance and public finance.
In 2006, ORIX USA acquired the investment bank Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin to address the growing international demand for middle-market investment banking services. In 2010, ORIX USA acquired RED CAPITAL GROUP that provides financing for multifamily, senior living and health care projects through various FHA and Fannie Mae Programs. RED CAPITAL GROUP continues to operate nationwide from its Columbus, Ohio headquarters.
In December 2010 ORIX USA acquired a majority interest in Mariner Investment Group – a manager of hedge funds and alternative investments with approximately $11.5 billion of asset under management. ORIX USA created a subsidiary, ORIX USA Asset Management to hold it’s investment in Mariner and potential other investments in the asset management space. Michael Blum was named CEO of ORIX USA Asset management in January 2011.
ORIX USA and its subsidiaries employ more than 1,400 employees in headquarters and regional offices.
Philanthropy
ORIX USA expanded its philanthropic initiative in November 2009, through the creation of www.orixfoundation.org, to support the growing community philanthropy of ORIX USA and its employees. The foundation’s main focus is the support of nonprofit organizations providing basic needs to children and families in the communities where ORIX USA employees live and work.
