Biography
Gadiesh was born in Haifa, Israel in 1951, the daughter of an Berlin-born Israel Defense Force general and his Ukrainian-born wife. After completing her compulsory service in the IDF, serving in military intelligence, Gadiesh studied at Hebrew University, graduating in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
After a graduation visit to the U.S., she applied to Harvard Business School. Having rudimentary English skills, she wrote her admissions essay in Hebrew and painstakingly translated it. Despite her linguistic difficulties, Gadiesh graduated in 1977 in the top 5 percent of her class, as well as being awarded with the Brown prize for the most outstanding marketing student. Flooded with numerous attractive offers, she joined Bain & Company after being persuaded during an interview with firm founder Mr. Bain.
Forbes has listed her among the world's 100 most powerful women four times since 2004.[3] A frequent business speaker and journal contributor, Gadiesh is the author of Lessons from Private Equity Any Company Can Use.[4]
