Personal life
Chaplin, who was named after her grandmother Oona O'Neill, the fourth wife and widow of Charles Chaplin, is the daughter of Geraldine Chaplin and the Chilean cinematographer Patricio Castilla. She grew up in Switzerland[3] and Madrid[4] and from age 15, she was educated, primarily in art history and dance, at Gordonstoun in Plewlands.[5] At the age of 17, she impersonated her grandfather in a school play, an adaption of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Edinburgh International Festival.[6]She dated the actor Alex Lanipekun whilst studying together at RADA.[7] She currently lives in Ladbroke Grove, West London.[8]
Career
After leaving Gordonstoun she was accepted to study at the famous RADA. One of her first cinema appearances was a cameo appearance in the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace.[9] Her mother previously made a cameo appearance in the 1967 production of Casino Royale. Oona was considered for the role as the main Bond girl, however the role eventually went to friend Gemma Arterton. Starting with a small role in the comedy Inconceivable, from 2007 onwards, she professionally worked with her mother.[10] Together with her first leading role, in the horror movie Imago Mortis, these have been the first collaborations of two Chaplins on screen for decades.[11] In 2011, she appears as a 'spoiled, beautiful wife' in the BBC television drama The Hour.[12] In 2011, she was cast in the second series of Game of Thrones as Jeyne Westerling.[13]
