Olivier Giroud (born 30 September 1986 in Chambéry, Savoie) is a French footballer. He currently plays as a striker for the Ligue 1 side Montpellier.

Career

Giroud is one of Tours FC's 2009/2010 season discoveries, and was the team's top-scorer.^[2]

On 26 January 2010 signed for Montpellier HSC, and scored the winning goal against Hungarian side Győri ETO in the Europa League Third Qualifying Round, first leg in Hungary on 29 July 2010.

On 14 August, Giroud scored the winning goal against holding Ligue 1 champions Lille.

Following some fine performances for his club, Giroud was called up to the France national football team on November 3, 2011 by manager Laurent Blanc.^[3] He came on for his debut as a substitute on November 11, 2011 in the 1:0 win over United States.
