The Old Colony Housing Project is a housing project located in South Boston, Massachusetts on East Ninth Street. Built in 1941, it is one of Boston Housing Authority's oldest developments.
It is in the part of the neighborhood where Whitey Bulger and associates Buddy Francis and Kevin Weeks grew up. Whitey grew up in the nearby Old Harbor Housing Project, also known as the Mary Ellen McCormack housing project. Buddy Francis would later be murdered by Stephen Flemmi and John Martorano, on the orders of Bulger.
This is also the place where Michael Patrick MacDonald, an anti-gun activist and author, grew up. He writes of his experiences in the memoir All Souls: A Family Story From Southie.
