Following the Dec. 2003 earthquake which leveled to the ground the city of Bam and its 3,000-year-old citadel, Razavi Nikkhou immediately headed for her hometown. She lost 28 close relatives as a result of the bitter quake. Nothing had remained of the city’s old alleys and streets. Kermanology Center proposed that she write a book about Bam seven days after the earthquake. She worked round-the-clock and her book “The Golden Age of Bam Citadel“ was published 40 days later. The book was distributed among the quake survivors. To save Bam’s lifestyle and traditions from oblivion, she authored a second book “Calm Uproar.“ The book recounts her memories of the city during the WWII, Iran-Iraq War (1980–1988) and through 2003 earthquake. Her forthcoming books about Bam are to provide readers with an insight of diverse local traditions. Razavi Nikkhou’s books have also received kudos from UNESCO.
