Seiffert, 2010Nosmips aenigmaticus is a rare mystery fossil of a primate and only known by 12 teeth. Most teeth were found at a site in the Fayum Depression about 40 miles outside Cairo, Egypt.[1]
The discovery that Nosmips aenigmaticus probably lived 37 million years ago in Africa does not fit into the evolutionary tree of primates. [2]
