Overview
The Northern Somali Unionist Movement (NSUM) is a Somali organization that was formed in 1991[1][2], by Mr Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud (Sililaanyo) [3] and whose members and supporters hail from Sool, Sanaag and Cayn (SSC) regions in the Northern regions of Somalia (formerly British Somaliland)[4]. NSUM says that it stands for the promotion of peace, reconciliation, and unity among all people from Somalia[5][6] [7][8]. They were involved in the 2010 Ayn clashes between themselves and joint Ethiopian and Somaliland forces, near Widwid, in the Ayn region of Somalia.[9] [10]. After the presidential election in 2010, Ahmed Mahamoud Silanyo became the President of Somaliland.
