Northern Peripheral Road

Northern Peripheral Road

Northern Peripheral Road or commonly known as Dwarka Expressway is being developed under the public private partnership (PPP) model. This stretch will connect Dwarka with National Highway 8 at Kherki Dhaula and will pass Pataudi Road. The NPR stretch has been planned as an alternate link road between Delhi and Gurgaon, and is expected to ease the traffic situation on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. The road will also provide connectivity to the much-touted Reliance-HSIIDC SEZ besides the Garhi Harsaru dry depot.[1]

Much like Delhi, Gurgaon too will have a BRT corridor to decongest traffic on the Northern Peripheral Road .In several sections, the NPR will have provisions for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor to ensure smooth flow of traffic. The road will be fully developed in March 2012.[2]

Dispute on Dwarka Expressway

Though there is dispute on Dwarka Expressway it is worth noting that the settlements on the DWARKA EXPRESSWAY path are illegal and the case is under jurisdiction of respectable courts. The litigation has led to delays in the state government being able to commence work on approx 6 KM's of the 18 km strech.

However, it is said that given that the settlers on Dwarka Expressway are illegal ( do not own the land title) many investors and end users are buying in expensive residential group housing projects with an expectation that the litigations will be settled soon either through court or in an out of court settlement driven by industry pressure.

Many investors and builders are confident that this dispute will be resolved and the area is witnessing high growth in reality sector with many established projects floated and being built.

The Dwarka Expressway construction has started for 12 of 18 Kilometer strech as 12 Kim's is free from litigation.
