Goho Faculty 116 Grades 9-12 Number of students 1300 Mascot Cougar Website North Providence High School North Providence High School (often abbreviated NPH or NPHS) is a public high school in North Providence, RI that serves grades 9-12. It is part of the North Providence School District and its sports teams compete in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League. North Providence, whose school colors are blue and gold, is home to Cougars. The high school graduated its first class c. 1940. In 1992, part of the school burned down but school was still in session. Trailers were placed in the parking lot and used as classrooms. The school grounds include a football and baseball field, as well as three gymnasiums and a fitness and training room within the building. The school is also equipped with tunnel access to the town’s Natatorium Complex. North Providence High employs 116 faculty and staff for the student body of approximately 1300 students.

Outside of sports, the LifeSmarts Team has had recent success, winning the State Championship in 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009.

Mission Statement
The Mission of North Providence High School is to educate all students in a safe, nurturing and challenging environment which empowers them to become well-rounded individuals who are life-long learners and productive members of society.
Athletics
Although most of North Providence’s sports teams complete in either Division II or III, many athletes compete at the state level. Student Council
Student Council is made up of six students filling six positions, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Social Committee Girl and Boy. All grade levels have a Student Council committee that works cooperatively with a Class Advisor to plan class events. These events include the ordering of class rings, Junior Prom, and during Senior Year, Spirit Week, Spirit Night, Homecoming, Winter Ball, Senior Prom, Senior Class trip, and Senior Night.
Homecoming
Homecoming is celebrated over the course of a week at North Providence High. The week is kicked off on Sunday with a Student vs. Faculty Softball game followed by a Bon Fire. The Monday – Friday that follows is called Spirit Week, in which each of the days has a costumed theme where students dress up respectively. Monday is always Red, White, and Blue Day and Friday is Blue and Gold Day. The days in between depend on what the Student Council plans. Past days have included Character Day, Decade Day, Opposite Day, Superhero Day, Duo Day and Hollywood Day. Thursday is Spirit Night, a class on class battle through which different activities are played. Friday night is the Homecoming Dance. Saturday is the Homecoming Football game. At halftime, the homecoming court is presented.
Post Graduate Plans
Most students that graduate North Providence High School make plans for higher education. Many of the colleges and universities that NPH graduates can be found in include: Community College of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College, University of Rhode Island, Salve Regina University, Northeastern University, University of New Hampshire, Harvard University, Providence College, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, University of Connecticut, and Roger Williams University.
