Advancing Clean Energy for a Sustainable Economy
The North Carolina Solar Center (NCSC) was established in 1988[1] as a clearinghouse for research and development in solar energy resources. The Center is housed at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC.
Through its many facilities and programs, the North Carolina Solar Center plays an important role in attracting, training and sustaining the state’s innovative energy businesses and workforce. The Solar Center provides workforce training, curriculum, demonstration and testing of new products, technical assistance, financial analysis and industrial recruitment services that significantly benefit firms in North Carolina.
The North Carolina Solar Center also offers technical assistance and educational services in the following areas:
Technical assistance:
- Renewable energy
- Industrial efficiency
- High performance/Green building
- Clean transportation/alternative fuels
Educational and other assistance:
- Economic development
- ISPQ accredited training programs and professional development
- K-12, community college and university.
NCSC manages the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) in cooperation with the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC). The database is widely accessed as a reference for understanding current renewable energy incentive information for each state.
