No Soap (in a Dirty War) is the second single released by Reverend and the Makers off their second album, A French Kiss in the Chaos. It was released on 5 October 2009 and was featured during Reverend and the Makers' three-night run at Wembley Stadium supporting Oasis. The song is a hit with fans due to Jon Mclure's lyrics focusing on the reality of the world, as he tries to in all of his songs, and the lyrics have proved a hit with fans who see the song as somewhat "anthemic".

Release
The track was available on digital download with the formats containing the new radio version of the track along with b-sides. The band also offered up the b-side slots on the digital bundles up to local Sheffield producers, who were invited to remix the track for a chance for the remix to be included on the single. The single was released on 5 October and McClure featured on Soccer AM and Never Mind The Buzzcocks (along with DJ Ironik and Carol Vordeman) in November and December in 2009 where he was promoting the single.
Reception
The song has proved successful with fans, and it has become a somewhat singalong anthem during the band's 2009 tour. Mclure's lyrics such as "I don't wanna die in the same hole I was born" have made fans love the song. Clickmusic stated that the song is "missing the chorus of former glories like "Heavyweight Champion Of The World"" but also said that the song had a "punch the air chorus, rugged vocals with just enough infamous Yorkshire wit on board".[1] Daily Music Guide awarded the single 3/5 stars, saying that the song was a "bright, epic and optimistic tune"[2]. The band is yet to follow up with a third single.
