Gaston (climbing)

In climbing, "to gaston" refers to a technique involving pulling to the side with the elbow pointed outwards. It can be visualised as being similar to the motion involved if one were to pull open a closed elevator door.

The technique is named after Gaston Rébuffat, a famous French alpinist.
