"The Back Room" is the critically acclaimed debut album by British post-punk revival band Editors, released July 25, 2005. It entered the charts at number 13 in July 2005, before peaking at number 2 in January 2006. It was nominated for the 2006 Mercury Prize and as of June 2007, has sold over 500,000 copies in United Kingdom and over 1,000,000 worldwide. [ [ Editors are back in town] ]

Editors received universal critical acclaim with their release of "The Back Room". The NME gave it a rating of 8/10 saying 'Never before have doom and gloom sounded so surprisingly uplifting and hopeful' and that Editors 'have created a debut that will endure.' Drowned In Sound gave "The Back Room" an even higher rating of 9/10, paying it the compliments that 'this is a record many people will be able to live inside for a very long time'. But perhaps the greatest sign of its acclaim was when the album received a 2006 Mercury Prize nomination.
