Nigel Knight

Nigel Knight is an Oxbridge economist and political scientist whose publications include ‘Governing Britain since 1945’ and ‘Churchill: The Greatest Briton Unmasked’.

He is a Fellow and Director of Studies in Economics at Churchill College, University of Cambridge,^[1] and lectures in the Faculty of Economics and Politics. He has worked in national politics advising and writing policy for the Liberal Democrats and for the Conservative Party.

He previously lectured at Oxford University in the Department of International Development and taught at University College before moving to Cambridge; initially to Magdalene College. Prior to going up to university he worked as an archaeologist for the Department of Urban Archaeology (Museum of London).

He was born in 1956 in Stopsley, Bedfordshire to Victor Knight, a rocket scientist who worked on the design and development of the ‘Thunderbird’ surface-to-air missile defence system and the ‘Blue Water’ nuclear missile; and to Joy Knight, an artist and costume designer for the film industry who worked with Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh.

He is married to Sally Goodsell, a pioneer in international software marketing, who subsequently moved into property development.
