Gabriel Nicolás Mezquida Sero (born January 21, 1992 in Paysandú^[2]) is a Uruguayan football player currently playing for Lillestrøm, on loan from C.A. Peñarol.

Career

Mezquida began his career by C.A. Peñarol, where he was promoted to the first team in the 2008 season.^[3] On 22 January 2009 he signed an Pre-Contract for FC Schalke 04,^[4] he turned back to play with C.A. Peñarol.^[5] The player joined than for an trial to his upcoming club FC Schalke 04 who is testing the talent from South America.^[6] The 17-year-old from Uruguay played tests under his upcoming coach Felix Magath.^[7]

Mezquida was with the U-15 from Uruguay at South American Championship Topscorer and with the team second place 2008, now is currently member of the U-17 national team from Uruguay.^[8] In the under-15 championship in South America last year Mezquida was top scorer.^[9]
