Pogo (real name Nick Bertke) is an electronic music artist living in Perth, Western Australia. His work consists of recording small sounds from a film or a specific scene, and sequencing the sounds together to form a new piece of music.

Music

His track "Alice" is a composition of sounds from the Disney film Alice in Wonderland^[3] Pogo took part in a project hosted by Disney/Pixar to produce a track based on their film, Up, titled "UPular".^{[citation needed]} He has since produced many more mixes, "Toyz Noize" and "Buzzwing", based on the movie Toy Story being among them.^{[citation needed]}

Although having exposure through YouTube, many of Pogo's tracks are available for download at www.pogomix.net. Pogo has since produced tracks using samples from films such as Mary Poppins, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, The Sword in the Stone, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, H.R. Pufnstuf, The King and I, Hook, Toy Story, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin, Terminator 2: Judgment Day.^{[citation needed]} and The Lord of the Rings.

Bangarang Controversy

When Pogo released his track "Bangarang" featuring footage and sound samples from Steven Spielberg's film Hook, the video was removed from YouTube following complaints made by Sony Pictures Entertainment. The disappearance of the video prompted several YouTube users to upload their own, previously saved versions of the video in protest (and the same was made for the "Alice" video).^{[citation needed]} The video eventually returned.

Swashbuckle Controversy

Pogo's track "Swashbuckle" featuring footage and sound sample from Pirates of the Caribbean, while featured on his live tours, has not been legally approved by Disney, and is therefore unavailable to download. Several petitions by fans have since sprung up in attempt to pressure Disney into allowing the release of the track.
