History
Newscoop 3.5 was released on 31 January 2011 and featured multi-author management, a geolocation interface, increased speed and a new interface tailored for journalists.[3]
Newscoop 3.5.1 was released on 18 February 2011 as a security update to 3.5 and fixed an XSS vulnerability in the admin login page plus front end vulnerabilities to Cross-Site Scripting attacks.[4]
Newscoop 3.5.2 was released on 15 March 2011. It added a new plug-in that provides reCAPTCHA service support and improvements to the dashboard and article edit screen andsupport for uploading multiple files to the Media Archive. A new template called "The Journalist" was also included. The update addressed more than 60 bugs found in the previous version, some of which to relate to improving security.[5]
Newscoop 3.5.3 was released on May 19 and fixed bugs relating to search, article lists, article editing and installation.[6]
SoundCloud support, allowing users to edit, upload and manage SoundCloud files, was announced in May 2011.[7]
Newscoop has a user-generated manual hosted by FLOSS Manuals.[8]
Examples
Sites using Newscoop include mdlf.org and West Africa Democracy Radio who launched a news platform that incorporated Newscoop on April 1, 2011.[9]
