Newport County missed out on a place in the promotion play-offs due to a last-day defeat to Cambridge City.[1] The club also missed out on silverware following their second FAW Premier Cup Final defeat.[2]

County reached the First Round Proper of the FA Cup for the first time since the 2001–02 season. The first-round match with Swansea City ended in defeat but set a new record attendance at Newport Stadium.[3] The club also reached their second FAW Premier Cup final but were beaten one-nil at home to The New Saints.[2]
