The first recorded match on the ground was in 1896, when Oxfordshire played their first Minor Counties Championship match at the ground against Wiltshire. From 1896 to 1901, Oxfordshire played 9 Minor Counties Championship matches at the ground. In 1939, Oxfordshire played 2 further Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which came against Berkshire.[1]
The ground has also held 2 first-class matches. The first first-class match held on the ground came in 1907 and saw Oxford University play Yorkshire. The second came the following year and saw the University play the touring South Africans.[2]
