History
The station began broadcasting online in July 2010 as Network North Devon, part of a group of internet radio stations owned by former Lantern FM presenter Ian Starling. The station was set up in response to Global Radio's decision to merge five of its Heart radio stations (in North Devon, Plymouth & the surrounding areas, the Exeter & Torbay areas and the South Hams) into one county-wide station based in Exeter. By this time, local programming on the Heart stations had been restricted to breakfast and drivetime slots.
The Voice was granted its first licence to broadcast on FM for 28 days from 9 November 2010 to 6 December 2010 under a Restricted Service Licence by Ofcom. The station first broadcast to the Barnstaple area on 106.0FM but was also available online via the station website. It is also able to be heard via internet radio receivers and many Smartphone online radio mobile phone applications. Due to excessive costs and licence limitations, it is not currently possible for the station to transmit from Huntshaw Cross, the main local radio and TV transmitter for North Devon.
Bideford FM - The Voice 87.7 was granted a temporary broadcast licence by Ofcom for the Bideford area from January 21, 2011 for 28 days on a frequency of 87.7 MHz.[1] Although this broadcast was aimed at Bideford and surrounding areas, programmes still originated from the studios in Barnstaple Square.
Barnstaple FM The Voice 107.1 broadcast from March 9, 2011 to April 5, 2011, Programmes began on Thursday the 10th of March at 6am with Lee (Wardle) and Pete "Peterbix" Fieldsend.
While the station has been off air between its various FM broadcasts, it has continued to provide live programming daily from the Barnstaple studios via its web stream and in April 2011 an Apple iPhone application was launched with a direct link to the station's stream.

A guest presenter slot on Saturdays at 11:00GMT during the November 2010 RSL in Barnstaple included such names as ITV South West's North Devon news correspondent Seth Conway, former Lantern FM breakfast duo PJ and Spanky, Lee Francis and Dave Gould.
Festive FM
Following the end of the November 2010 broadcast of The Voice 106, a second short term RSL, Festive FM,[2] was granted for Barnstaple. It ran for 28 days and was again on 106.0 MHz, from December 7, 2010 to January 3, 2011 to cover the Christmas period. Festive FM's licence was held by Barnstaple Town Centre Management, but the station was still run by Ian Starling. Due to OFCOM rules, there were slight changes to the presenter line-up.
Festival FM
Festival FM is another temporary RSL from The Voice FM team, with the licence held by North Devon Theatres and will feature up to 22 hours of live programming from the Barnstaple studios on 107.1FM from June 1, 2011 to June 28, 2011, coinciding with the North Devon Festival.
