Neon Gold Records is a New York City/London-based boutique record company founded in 2008 by Derek Davies (NYU '10) and Lizzy Plapinger (Vassar '10).[1] Neon Gold specializes in 7" records, regularly releasing limited runs between 250 to 500 copies. Despite their relatively short history, Neon Gold has already produced singles for such noteworthy acts as Passion Pit, Gotye, Marina and the Diamonds, Ellie Goulding, and several others.[2][3] In addition, Neon Gold still maintains a music blog, posting news about current productions, as well as profiles of up-and-coming bands from the United States and Europe and Australia.

On December 8, 2010, Neon Gold Records signed a joint venture with Columbia Records, enabling them to release more seven-inches in 2011, along with EPs and an album, which will be through RED Distribution.[4] Neon Gold will also have an upstream deal with Columbia, who will have first pick of all the bands signed to the label. In early 2011, Neon Gold launched a UK-based publishing imprint called Beyond Gold, a joint venture with Warner/Chappell Music. The first release will be from Alex Winston later this year.[5]

As of January 2011, Neon Gold Records launched a monthly pop/electric club night (in conjunction with HeavyRoc Music, Popjustice and Absolut) called POPSHOP happening on the first Thursday of every month at Tammany Hall in the Lower East Side of New York City.[6][7][8][9][10]
