Isaac Clarke is the main character of the Dead Space (series). He is not voiced by anyone is the first game but voiced by Gunner Wright in the second. Isaac is the main icon of the series, also including Necromorphs.

Before Dead Space
Isaac was an engineer working by freelance. He was in a relationship with Nicole Brenner who was soon to board the USG Ishimura as a medic for the crew. Isaac was to propose to her but when she announced her leave, he decided to wait till she came back. After the rise of the Necromorphs on board, Isaac is sent in with Zach Hammond and Kendra Daniels to help out the Ishimura, unaware of the infection on board.

Dead Space
Main article Dead Space (video game). During the events of the first game, Isaac is completely silent except for grunts of pain or frustration. Isaac is sent as an engineer to assist Daniels and Hammond while fixing the ship. Isaac confronts the monster or "Necromorphs", though the series does not directly call them that. Isaac is split from Hammond and Daniels and decides to take orders from them through video logs. He combats the Necromorphs using special futuristic tools like pulse rifles and plasma guns. When Isaac meets with Hammond, Hammond is attacked by a "Brute" and is killed. Overtime, Isaac meets with Nicole who is shown to be alive. She convinces him to destroy the Marker because it is the cause of the infection. Daniels also reveals herself to be an operative for the EarthGov who want the Marker despite it's evil nature. When Isaac is trying to destroy the Marker, Nicole suddenly disappears. Daniels confronts Isaac and shows him the rest of the video as Nicole commits suicide to escape infection. Daniels is killed by the Hive Mind, a large Necromorph underneath the station and Isaac then battles and kills the beast. Isaac tries to escape through a small ship on deck. He gets aboard and leaves the Ishimura. He watches a video of Nicole again and this time deletes it and looks on in anguish. He hears something behind him and turns around to see a demonic hallucination of Nicole who attacks him.
Before Dead Space 2
Isaac does escape but is taken by the scientists of Sprawl take him from the escape ship. They use Isaac for copying the Marker codes in his mind to create a replica. In Dead Space Ignition, the Sprawl is taken over and Franco Delile and his partner, Sarah, try to escape the infection. Sarah dies but Franco manages to come to Isaac and free him. During that time though, Dead Space: Aftermath occurs and during that time, Nolan Stross who had also come in contact with the Marker, had been stowed away like Isaac.
Dead Space 2
Main article Dead Space 2. Isaac immediately escapes (while Franco dies) and begins searching the ship. He meets Daina, a woman who tells him that she can help him. Along the way to her, her meets Stross who was freed also and Ellie Langford, an equipment pilot who freed Stross. When Isaac reaches Daina, she double crosses him and tells him that she is a unitologist and she wants Isaac for the Marker. The guard ship comes and kills Daina and her guards but Isaac escapes. Isaac is also being haunted by the demonic form of Nicole who keeps attacking him. Isaac, Ellie and Stross regroup and after the split but after, Ellie is attacked by a deranged Stross who pulls her eye out and leaves. Isaac confronts Stross and is forced to kill him when Stross attacks. Isaac finds the Marker Replica but battles the badly injured Director of Authority, Hans Tiedemann with his own javelin gun and kills him. Isaac is stopped by demonic Nicole who then Isaac fights inside his mind. Isaac successfully beats Nicole and lets her memory go away and gets rid of his dementia. Isaac stands down after beating, her an the area begins to collapse. Daina arrives in a ship and saves Isaac and the two leave the self-destructing Sprawl.
Personality
Isaac is shown to be depressed and non-talkative at all in the first game. He also has a deep obsession with watching a video of his girlfriend Nicole who is aboard the ship, though this is due to his sadness of having to let her go for her job opportunity. In Dead Space 2 Isaac is shown to be more frustrated and scared and left with dementia due to his last encounter with the Necromorphs, though he comes up with witty remarks and has sarcasm as well.
Necromorphs
Necromorphs are the main enemies of the game and look to kill any regular human. Necromorphs are not referred to as their names in the series, but are called that from fans and the developers of the game. Necromorphs are the dead reanimated bodies of the USG Ishimura. They are created from the effects from the Marker. Necromorphs come in different forms depending on the bodies shape after death. They are also created from their own kind called "Infectors" who fly around and find dead bodies to stick their proboscis in and spread the infection. Isaac fights all forms of Necromorphs as he goes along and due to his experiences with them, he is most likley the best combatant to them then any other character in the series.
