(Customer Relations)Website Nazmiyalantiquerugs.com The Nazmiyal Collection, based in New York City, specializes in buying and selling antique and decorative carpets and textiles. The company, founded in 1980 by Jason Nazmiyal, stocks a sizable inventory of antique Oriental carpets that represent major historical periods of carpet production throughout the world. Their {{|5000|sq ft|m2|}} gallery houses an extensive range of carpets, including pieces from Persia, Turkey, the Caucasus, China, Egypt, Europe and the Americas. Their collection includes rare carpets that date back to the 16th century, as well as textiles that can be traced back as far as the 4th century.
In 2009, Nazmiyal merged with the 60-year-old Damoka company,[1] also based in New York City. Like Nazmiyal, Damoka housed an extensive collection of classic sntique Persian carpets. Albert Karmely, the head of Damoka, has had a life-long association with the Carpet Trade. His Father was a Prominent Importer and Exporter of Persian carpets in the early 20th Century who also had significant ties with British India, Iran and Europe. Karmely, based in Iran until the deposition of the Shah in 1979, developed new techniques for Washing and Cleaning carpets and set up a major distribution warehouse in Teheran. After 1979, Karmely shifted first to Europe, and finally to New York.
The Nazmiyal Collection website provides detailed historical backgrounds on the major periods of Carpet Production throughout the Middle East, the Americas and Europe. The various periods are illustrated by pieces housed in museums throughout the world and from the Nazmiyal collections.
Nazmiyal supplies bespoke products to Individuals, Collectors, Auction houses and Designers. They offer an Online Catalogue presents detailed information about each carpet including size, colors and design elements. The catalogue also provides high-resolution images and color palettes to assist in the selection of carpets with appropriate shades for interior design projects. Nazmiyal’s services include repair and restoration of rugs. Nazmiyal’s on-staff restoration professionals evaluate the extent of restoration needed and the efficacy of restoration.
Nazmiyal Collection has previously been selected by the Whitney Museum to provide Inspirational Carpets for use as backdrops in an Exhibition of works by the Artist Paul Thek.[2] In addition to this, the Morgan Library & Museum installed an Oversized Antique Sultanabad Carpet from the Company during a renovation of their library in 2010.[3]
