Jane Green (Nickname: "Mummy") (born
May 31 ,1968 ) is an Englishauthor of women's novels. One of the founders of the movement known as 'chick lit' - she and Helen Fielding, author of Bridget Jones's Diary, are widely thought of as inventing the genre that the British media named in 1996 - she has moved on to write real books for real women, with millions of books in print around the world.Born in
London ,England , she is divorced and now lives inConnecticut with her partner, Ian Warburg, their blended families of six children, two dogs and three cats. She attended theUniversity of Wales, Aberystwyth from 1987-88, although she left without completing her degree and worked as a journalist throughout her twenties. At the age of 27 she was inspired to write a book about a woman being single in the city. This paid off and she published her first book, "Straight Talking" three months later.A regular number one bestseller in the Sunday Times in the UK, The Beach House and Second Chance both sat on the New York Times bestseller list for several weeks during the summer of 2008.
She is the winner of a Cosmopolitan Fun, Fearless Fiction award, and writes for various publications, both on and off-line, including The Sunday Times, Wowowow.com, and The Huffington Post.
