Rooney (nee Jones) Natalie Sara Massenet was born in Los Angeles in May 1965, the daughter of Bob Rooney (an American journalist) and Barbara Jones (a model for Chanel). She spent her early childhood in Paris before moving back to Los Angeles in 1976 with her father.[2] In 1997 she met her husband, Arnaud Massenet (an investment banker) at the Notting Hill Carnival. A month later, she moved from LA to be with him.[3]
Career
Natalie Massenet started working as a fashion editor at Women's Wear Daily in 1993 (aged 27) and later in 1996 at The Tatler. She left there in 1998 to go freelance and started up Net-a-Porter. In April 2010 she sold her share of Net-a-Porter to Swiss luxury goods group Richemont for an estimated £50m. She remains as Net-a-Porter's executive chairman, and it is understood that she will reinvest £15m back into the business alongside Richemont.[4] In June 2010 she announced that she was starting up a similar website for men, entitled 'Mr Porter'.[5]
