Nancy is a 1970-1971 NBC sitcom starring Renne Jarrett as Nancy Smith, the daughter of the President of the United States, who, according to the story line, while she is on vacation in fictitious Center City, Iowa, meets and marries a veterinarian, played by John Fink in the role of Dr. Adam Hudson.[1]

Celeste Holm appeared as Abby Townsend, the press secretary of the First Lady and Nancy's official chaperone. Robert F. Simon appeared as Everett McPherson, the uncle of Dr. Hudson. William Bassett starred as Agent Turner of the United States Secret Service; Ernesto Macias was Agent Rodriguez; Frank Aletter played Tom Daily, and Eddie Applegate filled the role of Willie Maxwell, a local reporter. No one was cast as the President.[1]

The premiere episode is entitled "It's a Good Day for Meeting the President's Daughter". Other segments were entitled "Guess Who's Coming to the White House", "The Smallest Diamond in the World", "It's a Bad Day for Meeting Presidents", "Just Call Us Incompatible", "Adam, the Star", "East Is East, and West Is West" (with Gary Vinson), "Here Comes the Groom", "Honeymoon for Twelve", "Going, Going, Gone", "The First One Hundred Years Are the Hardest", "Busiest Bride in the World", "A Case of Spring Fever", "Boys' Night Out", "Never Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth", "Budget, Budget, Who's Got the Budget?", and the final episode, "A Girl's Best Friend".[2]

A Screen Gems Production, Nancy was a creation of producer Sidney Sheldon, who wrote every episode under various pseudonyms ["Mark Rowane", "Christopher Golato", "Allan Devon"]. It aired from September 17, 1970, to January 7, 1971, on Thursday in the 9:30 Eastern time slot between Ironside detective series and preceding The Dean Martin Show. The competition on ABC was another sitcom, The Odd Couple, and the second half-hour of the CBS Thursday Night Movies.[3]

Sixteen years prior to Nancy, Celeste Holm had appeared in an 8-episode CBS sitcom, Honestly, Celeste!, having played a New York City newspaper reporter.
