- Naile sultan
-
Naile Sultan (30 September 1856 - 18 January 1882) was the daughter of Sultan Caliph Abdülmecid I and his third secondary Kadınefendi Şayeste Hanım. Sultan Naile was born in the same year as her sister Sultan Mediha. In her birth certificate it stated that she was born on Tuesday. She was five years old when her father Sultan Abdülmecid I died. There is no information regarding her childhood and youth, which coincided with the reign of her uncle Sultan Abdülaziz. As she died of tuberculosis at the age of 26, it seems apparent that she had battled against this illnes all through her youth, like her older sister Sultan Behice. When her brother Sultan Abdühamid succeeded the throne, he granted permission for the marriages of Sultan Behice to Hamid Bey and Sultan Naile to Imperial Aid Circassian Mehmed Paşa and their weddings had been held on October 6, 1876 in the Dolmabahçe Palace. Sultan Naile died childless after six years of marriage and was buried in the Yenicami Havatin Thomb.
