Nadodi Thendral was a 1992 Tamil language film directed by Bharathiraja and written by Sujatha Rangarajan. It starred Karthik Muthuraman and Ranjitha in the lead roles. The music was provided by Ilayaraja.The music score by Ilayaraja was of much talk. As usual his background score and original score were fantastic. Featuring an international cast, the film was a period movie set in British India and was based on a triangular love story between a goldsmith (Karthik), a gypsy woman (Ranjitha) and the district collector's daughter. Some critics opine that later movies such as the Hindi-language blockbuster Lagaan and the 2010 Tamil-language movie Madrasapattinam were inspired by Nadodi Thendral.Plot
The story reveals around a triangular love between Karthik Muthuraman, Ranjitha and an English lady (District collector's daughter)during the British occupation in India. Karthik is a goldsmith's son, so he is too and Ranjitha is a gypsy woman has a poultry. At the start they both collide and very soon both falls for each other. At the same time, the braveness of Karthik is impressing the District daughter's heart as well. The rest of the movie deals with how the lovers getting united with the help of the English lady
Reception
The film was an average grosser and did not succeed to the expected level. However, its soundtrack was considerably popular.
