NZMuseums showcases New Zealand's museums and galleries and their collections. It's also a directory of museums and galleries, and an online collection management system. NZMuseums is the initiative of National Services Te Paerangi, a team at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, in Wellington, New Zealand.
NZMuseums enables the museums of New Zealand, in particular the several hundred small volunteer-run museums throughout the country, to have a global presence through the Web. Currently there are 400 museums contributing to NZMuseums.
The site is run using eHive, an online collections management system provided by Vernon Systems Ltd, using international museum standards and the latest technologies. eHive allows museums to catalogue their collections online, join and contribute to communities including NZMuseums, and showcase their collections to the public.References
