National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities

The National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities or NCMHD is a United States government agency. The stated mission of the NCMHD is to "promote minority health and to lead, coordinate, support, and assess the NIH effort to reduce and ultimately eliminate health disparities"[1] The center was established in 2000, by the passage of the Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education Act.[2] On September 13, 2010 the NCMHD transitioned to full institute status as the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), under the Affordable Care Act.[3]
