Dr. John Ruffin is the Director of the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD).

The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities or NIMHD is a United States government agency. The stated mission of the NIMHD is to "promote minority health and to lead, coordinate, support, and assess the NIH effort to reduce and ultimately eliminate health disparities"[1] It was established as an NIH center in 2000, by the passage of the Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education Act.[2] On September 13, 2010 the NCMHD transitioned to full institute status, becoming the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), under the Affordable Care Act.[3] It has been under the direction of John Ruffin, PhD since 2001.[4]
