It essentially is a replacement for NASCAR Nation and This Week in NASCAR (formerly NASCAR Inside Nextel Cup) (both former NASCAR on SPEED–related shows). The show gets its name in part since it is broadcast from Charlotte, North Carolina, which is the 'hub' of most NASCAR teams. It initially was a half-hour show, but eventually became the hour-long show it is today. It currently airs at 6 pm Monday through Thursday, but is expected to return to its initial start time of 7 pm at the beginning of the 2012 NASCAR season.
At first the show was hosted by a rotating group which included NASCAR RaceDay and NASCAR Victory Lane host John Roberts, Camping World Truck Series Setup show host and occasional NASCAR Trackside host Krista Voda and Byrnes, but in August 2010 Byrnes was announced as the permanent host of the show and has been in that capacity ever since, though it does not affect his duties as a pit reporter during the NASCAR on FOX races of a given Sprint Cup Series season.
The show breaks down the previous weekend's race and looks forward to the upcoming one, providing analysis and interviews along the way. Jimmy Spencer has a segment on the Tuesday and Thursday editions of the show where he provides commentary (Tuesday) and answers viewer emails/tweets (Thursday). His segments have become popular for the various 'awards' he gives drivers and teams such as the crying towel, cigars, strait jackets. Also on Tusedays, one of the three NASCAR Miss Sprint Cup's presents the tweets of the week from NASCAR Drivers and Crewman. Danielle Trotta contributes segments to the show and does interviews with drivers, crew chiefs, car owners as well. She also acts as a fill-in host in Byrnes' absence.
