Mukkam Muslim Orphanage Established 1956 Type Education Location Calicut, Kerala, India Website http://mmomukkam.org/index.php?id=3 Mukkam Muslim Orphanage (MMO) is an educational institution established in 1956 with 22 inmates, and at present there are more than 1100 inmates and it is one of the largest orphanages in India. Now 28 institutions are functioning under the MMO management. It got National Award in 1982 and 2008 for excellence in child welfare from the Ministry of Women and Child Development awarded by Giani Zail Singh the then President of India, and UPA United Progressive Alliance Chair person Sonia Gandhi respectively.[citation needed]
MMO is set in the valley of the Western Ghats, at Mukkam about 35 km north east of Calicut city, Kerala, India.
