Was created by MTV Brazil during the programming broadcast in the summer of 2005, after a number of critical viewers of the station to claim the fact that, grade in the programming of the station, contained no more programs geared only the presentation of video clips.
As the programming of MTV Brazil's summer lasts about 3 months, the program MTV Lab was inserted in the grid as a test (hence the suffix Lab, laboratory) for that the station could get feedback from viewers.
The test was successful and MTV Lab was one of the largest audience in the issuing of summer programming, which has made her keep the program throughout the year and renew all its programming including more programs purely musical, as the MTV of pocket, from 13h to 16h, so that old clips that do not spend more on programming return.
Currently, the MTV Lab is shown daily and is divided into several blocks.
It also has three channels on their portal for online videos, the MTV Overdrive, and them: Now Lab, Lab Lab and Classic Radio.

- Clássicos: has old clips of success on MTV, usually bands rock, rap and pop.
- Cult Trash: shows more rough clips of MTV's history.
- Radio: the hits just in time piece of programming.
- Now: the new music releases. It has clips from the bands or unknown new set of groups.
- Matinal: a selection of current or old clips to heat their early days.
- Toca Aí: video request by artists from MTV.
- Ao Cubo: 3 shows clips of the band following. The audience of the program sends SMS messages in each block of the program, responding to questions made by MTV related to the artist.
- BR: space dedicated to the presentation of clips from bands of the Brazilian scenario independent.
- Freak: derived from the old program Control Freak, the viewer decides what the next clip to be made via SMS.
- Sap: subtitled music videos in Portuguese or English.
- Lab: track daily clips showed that without a defined style, toward all the taste. Was made daily from 4:00A.M. until 6:00A.M. at the beginning of 2007 was the MTV Lab that existed only during the programming of the station.
- Verão: During the summer of broadcast programming, from 8:00P.M. to 9:00P.M. was shown playlists made by the public in the website of MTV Music Brazil.
- Special: fixed block of MTV Lab not only displayed on special occasions with themes also specific: during the time the elections were displayed with special theme of protest 1:50P.M. to 2:00P.M. and from 9:20P.M. to 9:30P.M. and at the turn of the year 2008/2009 were shown clips commemorating only with clips of 2008. 22:00P.M. to 1:00P.M. Before the debut of Summer 2009 Schedule of MTV, the block was displayed daily from 8:00P.M. to 9:00P.M.
