Mount Simeon (Arabic: منطقة جبل سمعان Ğabal Sam'ān), also known as Jabal Sam'an, is a district (mantiqah) of the Aleppo Governorate in Syria. At the 2004 Census it had a population of 2,490,751. Its centre is Aleppo, the capital of the governorate and the most populous city in Syria.
Divisions
The district of Mount Simeon contains seven Nāḥiyas:
- Center of Mount Simeon (مركز جبل سمعان): contains 24 villages and 31 farms.
- Ḥuraytān (حريتان)
- Zarbah (الزربة)
- Dārat ʻazzah (دارة عزة)
- Ḥāḍir (الحاضر)
- Zammār (زمار)
- Tall Ḍamān (تل الضمان)
Until December 2008, the district of Atāreb was part of Mount Simeon District.[1]
