Mount McKeown is a mountain (1,880 m) on the north side of Embree Glacier, 3 nautical miles (6 km) northeast of Mount Schmid, in the north portion of the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains. First mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1957-59. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for First Lieutenant Donald F. McKeown, United States Air Force (USAF), who participated in establishing the South Pole Station in the 1956-57 season.
