Mount McAllister

Mount McAllister (68°44′S 65°54′W / 68.733°S 65.9°W / -68.733; -65.9) is a mountain rising to 1,975 m on the west side of Weyerhaeuser Glacier, 4 nautical miles (7 km) northwest of Mount Blunt in east Antarctic Peninsula. The peak was photographed from the air by the United States Antarctic Service (USAS), 1940, Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE), 1947, U.S. Navy, 1966, and was surveyed by Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS), 1958-61. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in 1977 for Lieutenant R.M. McAllister, USCG, Operations Officer, USCGC Burton Island, U.S. Navy Operation Deep Freeze, 1975 and 1976.
